Major Assignment #1 Self Reflection
Brainstorming is a fantastic way to
gather and organize your research information. There are brainstorming
techniques such as mind mapping, brainwriting, star bursting, and planning
worksheets. Planning worksheets are a wonderful way to brainstorm through
questions. There were planning worksheets given to us in English Composition 2
course to help students organize for a topic. Planning worksheets help
students, such as me, prepare for a major assignment.
The major assignment #1 I submitted
on blackboard was a rough draft of a topic I have chosen to write about, and
which format I need to use. The format that was available to me to use were
infographic or brochure. It took me a minute to understand which one of the
formats would make sense for the topic I have chosen. The steps I had to take
was mind mapping because I wanted to map out the facts about my topic. Another
step I took was defining words and phrases that came up in contexts that I did
not understand. In other words, how would you know what the topic is but do not
know what the topic means? Also, another step I took was searching for other
works that deal with the assignment so I can understand how to do the
assignment. I looked at other brochures and infographics as well. Lastly,
another step I took was taking suggestions from peers. I would present my work
to my peers and watch for a reaction. The title of your assignment always
catches the reader’s attention. If your title catches the reader’s attention,
you are more than likely to get feedback. Your peers might even read the
assignment back to you so you can see if your assignment makes sense with your
topic or vice versa.
There were parts of major assignment
one that were challenging while parts were easy. The challenging part of this
assignment was finding credible sources and reading. To do ANY ASSIGNMENT, you
would have to do research on your topic. Yes, you would have to READ CREDIBLE
Sources about that topic. Reading plays a huge role in gathering information
about your chosen topic. My topic was Neuroscience and Psychology: Goal
Pursuit. As you look around on my blog, you will see an infographic on the
topic. The easy part was selecting a format which was infographic. I received
feedback on my planning worksheets and infographic from my professor. It is
okay to receive feedback because it could help you improve and update your
assignment. If you know your mistakes, you will make it better the next time.
You want others to understand your assignment.
In conclusion of this reflective
essay, I love to accept feedback and suggestions because it helps me clarify
the understanding of the assignment. Also, it encourages me to do something
different on my next major assignment. On my next major assignment, which is
Major assignment number two, I plan to read more scholarly articles on the
nature of the assignment. I want to see more brainstorming techniques from
peers and students.
